These shots were simply not easy to get. A considerable amount of reaching, stumbling and balancing had to be done. Was it worth it? You bet. These things are gorgeous. They are loud flowers and remind me of my childhood. Growing up in Trinidad, the rhythm of life were loud and colorful. The air was always full of laughter. Looking at these beautiful flowers, how could you not feel anything but good? And if it cost me a little sweat and a slight backache…c’est la vie.

White Water Lily
Nikon D90 with Tamron 90. 1/320s at f/16, ISO200, Landscape mode. I used a tripod for added stability but I discarded the tripod after this shot, it was simply too difficult. In Lightroom, I adjusted the Landscape mode setting and the white balance. I adjusted the light levels so that the flower was brighter against a dark background. The pond was under tree cover but sunlight was dappled, in places bright and in others filtered. I cropped and tilted the photo to make up for the tough angle I had to use.
I will be back to the pond soon.
